I started the week at the Business Travel Show in London where I was speaking to industry leaders and travel providers about travel trends and developments in support of my business, Oneworld Travel.

Later in the week I attended another conference, this time in Oxford, for the Conservative Councillors Association at which I learned a great deal about best practice in Local Government and about innovative projects led by councillor colleagues in other parts of the UK. It was a great opportunity to make new connections and to generate new ideas which I can feed back into the process in Wakefield.

Over the weekend I attended the Rhubarb Festival; a real local success story and a great asset in promoting our city to a wider audience around Britain and beyond – including a rather impressive Gordon Ramsay lookalike!

It was great to try so much of our amazing local produce and I hope that the festival can continue to grow and support the district in so many ways.
